<H2>Taj Palace</H2>Buffet style Indian cusine with many choices cooked in a tandoor which leads to a distintive flavoring. The Ala Carte menu has many authentic Indian entrees, including a house specialty, Maharaja Dinner for Two, including Tandoori Chicken, Barra Kabab, Fish Tikka, Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken Tikka Makhmi, Saag Panner, Pillau Rice, Salad, and Raita & Onion Kulcha. From a window from the restaurant into the kitchen, you can watch the chef place the long spears with vegetables and meats into the tandoor oven. The result on chicken is hot and seared on the outside, while tender and juicy on the inside. The Ala Carte Tandoori Chicken is served on a hot skillet along with rice. The buffet offers a range of Indian food from mild to spicy and includes a salad bar, dessert, soup, Naan bread, vegetables, rice, and several different meat or vegetarian choices. The cost of the buffet at lunch was $7.40 (as of May 2004). A Children's menu is also offered with traditional American choices with an Indian twist such as a hot dog rolled in freshly baked bread or a mild Curry for Begginers among several other choices. The restaurant is located at the end of the shopping center of the former Big Bear grocery store. The decor theme includes small brass vases, brass lights that hang over the tables, pastel and yellowish pink colors and a corner bar where they can mix up your favorite hard liquor. The window shade is a set of hanging beads which from the outside have a picture of the Taj Palace. The restaurant is closed between lunch hours and dinner hours, lunch buffet is offered daily during selected hours while dinner buffet is offered Monday and Tuesday. The Ala Carte Menu is offered for dinner hours seven days a week.
