African Kitchen features West African and international cuisine with a house specialty of entrees popular in Gambian. Bakary Jammeh is the co-owner and head chef of this African restaurant and they offer guidance and samples if you are unsure about Gambian dishes. The decor is colorful and focuses on west African culture, even in the table and window coverings. The restaurant is noted in several places about the exceptional pepper soup. They also offer the more traditional soul / southern American style entrees. Most entrees are reasonable priced and well under $10. Located in a strip shoppoing center around a mile west of I-75 on 7 Mile Rd. and East of Woodward Ave. From I-75, exit at Nine Mile Road heading west then turn left on Woodward and right on Seven Mile. As of this writing, the restaurant was on a cash only basis.
