Central Grocery's specialty is the muffaletta, which they claim to have originated. While the claim is disputable, the muffalettas are good. Being more of an old-time Italian deli than a restaurant, seating is limited. If the weather is nice, order your sandwich to go and eat in nearby Jackson Square or Woldenberg Park along the river. In addition to muffalettas, various bottled and canned beverages are available as are specialty meats and Italian delicacies including olives, anchovies, and fine oils.
