Serrano's Salsa Company, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Serrano's Salsa Company
3347 Highland Road
Baton Rouge LA United States

"Serranos (ser-ra-nos): A spanish word meaning highlands or mountainous region. Also, a very fine pepper with a vivid personality." Located near the North gates of LSU campus nea the Chimes, Serrano's Salsa Company started in Baton Rouge in 1999. WIth the success of the first, the founders, Andy Blouin from Baton Rouge and Sean Malone from New Orleans, soon opened a second location in New Orleans in 2002. At Serrano's, you'll find regional favorites from Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, and the Yucatan. Discussing their restaurant on their web site, one of the founders is quoted as saying, "Our dishes are unique. Creating an atmosphere that complimented the food was very important. This part of the country is used to spicy and exciting cuisine and our decor mirrors the unique flavors of Latin grilled quail, crabmeat & bacon quesadillas, and Equadorean civiche." . Lest we forget, the Bar at Serranos offers quality margaritas made from the good tequilas, freshly-squeezed lime juice and Hiram Walker triple sec. Mmargaritas can be mixed with side mixes, including Midori, Chambord, or any of a number of liquors (Strawberry, Mango, and Peach).
